Lots of choices for plating and color if you want a little fancy or rust resistance. Now when you say multi-speed with rear derailleur, there’s the kicker. You’ll need a little skinnier to get through the drive-train. From brands you can trust, like Kent, Concord and huffy nighthawk Huffy, Walmart has cruiser bikes for the whole family. All you need to do is pick out your favorite style and color and get ready to enjoy the ride. The front fork and chainguard were a very dull silver (a.k.a., gray) that detracted from the look of the chrome fenders, so I sprayed on two coats of Rustoleum gloss white. This cruiser bike is made in a vintage style, with a seafoam green color to match. If the bike is single speed or internal hub geared, chains with internal width of 1/8″ / 3.2mm are usually used. This is probably what you need. This turned out to be one of my fondest adventures.

This all-black cruiser has a modern design and an adjustable seat that makes it suitable for riders of different heights (though it’s best for teens to adults). I took her up Independence Pass this week but she has just one gear and bogged down going uphill. It was still a pleasant ride, though, especially considering how the serious road bikers stared as they passed me on their expensive bikes in their ridiculous clothes. Beyond serving as a practical mode of transportation, Arianna has given me plenty of good times riding along the Pacific Ocean on the famous strand that stretches from Malibu to Manhattan Beach. Now she takes me on long rides along the Roaring Fork River on the Rio Grande Trail.
